About this scholarship

Benefit: what you get

The University of Granada runs its own annual scholarship programme, which is separate from the Spanish national system of student finance. It offers four types of grant; you should apply for the one that best suits your circumstances. Each year, around 3,000 places are available, with a total budget of 2.27 million euros for 2025/26.

  • Tuition fee grant: Covers the costs of the credit points required in the relevant year (12.62 euros per credit point for Bachelor’s students in 2025/26) or up to 450 euros for Master’s students.
  • Housing grant: EUR 1,300 for the academic year, provided your family home is more than 50 km from Granada.
  • Meal grant: One meal a day in a university canteen on campus.
  • Transport and materials grant: EUR 500 as a lump sum for travel expenses or learning materials.

Eligibility

  • Institution: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at the University of Granada.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Financial need: Your household income and assets fall within the same limits as those applicable to the national MEFPD grant in Spain.
  • Academic progress: You have achieved the minimum number of credit points required for your degree programme, and your pass rate meets the threshold for your chosen type of financial support: 40% for the meal allowance, and up to 70% for tuition fee and accommodation grants in most degree programmes.
  • Tuition fees: You have already paid your tuition fees for the current academic year (exceptions apply only in proven cases of hardship).
  • Housing grant extra condition: Your permanent place of residence must be more than 50 km from Granada.
  • National scholarship: You are not currently in receipt of a Spanish MEFPD scholarship. This scholarship and the national scholarship cannot be held at the same time.

How to apply

Apply online via the UGR’s virtual office. The application deadline is 31 October 2025 for Bachelor’s students and 5 December 2025 for Master’s students. This is a separate application process, independent of the national MEFPD scholarship; applying for one does not automatically mean you will be considered for the other.
