About this award / prize

Benefit

You will receive a one-off cash prize from the HHGS, the students’ association of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. This is awarded to a member who is nominated by another member as a ‘good friend’. The association does not specify what this means. The person nominating you simply explains why you deserve this award. Axel Adlerbert, a graduate of the Faculty, established the fund in 1938 to reward members who distinguish themselves as good friends to their fellow students.

Eligibility

  • Membership: You are a member of HHGS, the student union of the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
  • Nominated by someone else: You cannot apply yourself. Another HHGS member must nominate you.
  • Recognised as a "good friend": The nominator describes why you fit. The union leaves this open and sets no fixed definition.
  • Field of study: Any topic, as long as you are an HHGS member.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

An HHGS member submits a nomination through an online form on the union's subsidy page. Nominations open twice a year, in spring and autumn. The autumn window runs from 4 to 25 November. One form can name several people, or you can submit a separate form for each nominee.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is strictly limited: only HHGS members can be nominated, and only by another member. Consequently, the pool of candidates is small and the competition is limited. Your chances depend on someone else deciding to nominate you and writing a convincing statement of reasons – something you cannot do yourself. If a friend within the union nominates you with a clear statement of reasons, your chances are quite good.
