About this award / prize

Börje Andersson's Peace Fund

You receive a one-off award of 2,500 SEK (about 230 EUR) for outstanding work for peace, either something you have already done or something you are planning, at a national or international level. The award mainly goes to young people who are active for peace. It was set up in 1997 by Börje Andersson, chair of the Ulricehamn branch of the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society (Svenska Freds- och Skiljedomsföreningen), and is managed by that society's central board. It is normally given once every four years.

Who can apply

  • Membership: You are a member of the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society. Branches and members can also nominate someone else who has done significant peace work.
  • What you have done: You have carried out, or are planning, an exceptional contribution to peace, nationally or internationally.
  • Age: Any peace activist can apply, but young people come first.
  • Field of study: Does not matter. This award is for peace work, not for a particular subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You apply by email with “Ansökan Börjes Fredsfond” in the subject line, or by post to the society's Stockholm office. The award is currently paused. The society will announce when you can apply again.
