Grants for disability organizations

Your organisation will receive a grant to run recreation trips and camp stays for children and young people with disabilities. There is no fixed amount. You should set out the planned activities and their estimated costs, and the amount of the grant will be decided on this basis. The funding comes from ‘Stiftelsen Sunnerdahls Handikappfond’, a Swedish foundation that has been supporting children and young people with disabilities since the 1930s.

Who can apply

• You are an organization: Private individuals cannot apply here. There is a separate funding scheme for them.
• You work nationwide: You are a central Swedish disability organization active across the country. Local and regional groups cannot apply here.
• Who you serve: Your work is for children and young people with disabilities.
• What the money is for: They spend it mainly on leisure activities and camp stays for participants under the age of 30.
• No other public funding: The state, region or local authority does not yet cover the costs of this measure.

How to apply

Fill in the foundation's application form for central disability organizations and post it to the office in Tyresö. You can list up to five activities on one form. For each, give the number of participants under 30 and the estimated cost, and attach a cost plan. The deadline is 30 September.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant scheme is very narrowly defined. Only national Swedish organisations for people with disabilities that work with children and young people are eligible, meaning that very few organisations can apply at all. If your organisation clearly fits this profile and you submit a well-documented budget, your chances are good. As no fixed amount has been set, the level of funding depends on how convincingly you justify each planned measure.
