About this scholarship
Benefit: what you get
You will receive a one-off payment of 49,000 SEK (about 4,300 EUR). It will help you get through a difficult period during your studies. The number of scholarships varies from year to year. In 2025, four scholarships were awarded. The funding comes from a donation by the artist and textile educator Eina Schortz. The scholarships are awarded by HDK-Valand, the Academy of Art and Design at the University of Gothenburg.
Eligibility: who can apply
- Programme: You are studying Fine Art (“fri konst”) at HDK-Valand, the University of Gothenburg.
- Gender: According to the donor’s will, the scholarship is restricted to female students.
- Difficult situation: You are facing a genuine hardship whilst studying, for example due to financial difficulties, health problems or because you are a single parent. You must provide evidence of this.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
You apply through the "Stipendier" course room on Canvas, the university's online learning platform. Join the room first if you are not already connected. Alongside proof of your difficulties, you write a short statement explaining what you would use the money for. The application window runs from February to March, with the 2025 deadline on 11 March. The HDK-Valand scholarship committee decides together with the study counsellors.
