SSEF's memorial fund scholarship for nursing students

You will receive financial support for learning activities that go beyond your regular nursing degree programme, usually in the form of a placement abroad. The fund pays out a total of approximately 15,000 SEK per year (roughly 1,350 EUR), which is divided amongst the selected students. The money comes from the Swedish Nurses’ Association (Svensk sjuksköterskeförening) via its SSEF Memorial Fund. You can use it for an internship abroad, an external course or a specialist conference. Please note that it is only intended to cover future expenses, not costs that you have already paid.

Who can apply

• Studies: You are enrolled on the basic training programme to become a qualified nurse (grundutbildning till sjuksköterska).
• Membership: You are a student member of the Swedish Nursing Association.
• A concrete plan: You have specific plans for further training, such as a confirmed period of study abroad, and can enclose the relevant certificate of admission.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You can apply online once you have logged in to the ‘Mina sidor’ members’ area on swenurse.se. Please attach your internship offer and a brief explanation of how the scholarship would help you. The application deadline is 15 October at 14:00, and the selection process takes approximately 9 weeks.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is strictly targeted: you must be a student member of the association, be enrolled on a basic nursing training programme, and have a confirmed plan, such as an internship abroad. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small compared to open scholarships. If you clearly meet these conditions and enclose a valid confirmation of enrolment along with a compelling personal statement, your chances are good. As the total amount is modest, what matters most is a clear, well-reasoned plan.
