University of Gothenburg - Holger Gustafsson's endowment fund

What you get

You will receive a scholarship to pursue further studies in the field of string instruments, for example abroad. The fund is administered by the University of Gothenburg and has assets of approximately 2.3 million SEK (around 200,000 EUR), from which the scholarships are paid. The sources do not specify either a fixed amount per scholarship or the duration of the funding.

Who can apply

• University: You study at the Academy of Music and Drama (Högskolan för scen och musik) in Gothenburg, part of the University of Gothenburg.
• Instrument: You play a string instrument, such as the violin, viola, cello or double bass. The fund is aimed exclusively at string students, not at all music students.
• Plans: You would like to pursue further studies, for example abroad.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very specific. It is open exclusively to string players at an academy in Gothenburg who wish to continue their studies; consequently, the target group is small and there are only a few applicants. If you play a string instrument there and can demonstrate a clear commitment to further study, your chances are good.
