About this scholarship
Stiftelsen Göteborgs Folkskoleseminariers Memorial Fund
You will receive a one-time payment of 15,000 SEK (about 1,330 EUR) if you are studying to become a teacher at the University of Gothenburg and are on a low income. The money will be paid directly into your bank account, and you do not need to account for what you spend it on. The grant comes from a foundation run by the University’s Faculty of Education, which supports students who are particularly committed to their studies but are facing financial difficulties.
Who can apply
- Programme: You are studying one of the university’s teacher training programmes: Early Years Education, Primary School Teaching (after-school care, F-3 or 4-6), Subject Teaching for Years 7–9, or the KPU, VAL or ULV programmes for after-school care and/or primary school.
- University: You’re studying at the University of Gothenburg.
- Progress: You have passed at least 30 credits (högskolepoäng, the Swedish university credit) in one of those programmes.
- Income: Your gross income for 2025 is less than 235,200 SEK.
- Previous awards: You may have received this scholarship no more than once previously. First-time recipients will be given priority.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of Gothenburg.
How to apply
You apply via the university’s online scholarship system and confirm your details using BankID. As proof of income, please attach your Swedish tax assessment notice (besked om slutskatt) for 2025. The application deadline is 15 October. Applicants will then be ranked according to the number of credit points they have earned.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is very narrowly defined: you must be enrolled on a specific teacher training programme at a university and have an income below a set threshold, meaning that only a few people meet the criteria. If you clearly meet these conditions, your chances are good, particularly as a first-time applicant with a high number of credits already earned. As selection is based on the number of credits, it is an advantage if you are already well advanced in your degree programme.
