Borlänge-Falun University Scholarship

You receive 20,000 SEK per year (about 1,800 EUR) for one year. Up to four students get it each year. It goes to full-time students at Dalarna University (Högskolan Dalarna) who live in the region and do voluntary social work in their spare time. A group of 12 companies from the Borlänge and Falun area fund it together with the Dalarna Student Union. Winners are presented at an event in the spring and get a certificate.

Who can apply

• University: You study full time in a programme at Dalarna University (Högskolan Dalarna).
• Where you live: Your home is in Dalarna, in central Sweden.
• Study results: You studied full time in the previous spring semester. You can show your earned university credits and grades.
• Volunteering: Alongside your studies you do unpaid social work in Borlänge and/or Falun. For example, you help people through a club, association, organisation, company or the student union, or you work on career fairs. Two references must confirm this.
• Field of study: Any programme at the university counts.

How to apply

Apply through the online form on the Tunabyggen student website by 30 November. Later applications are not considered. A jury of company representatives and the student union scores applicants on grades and social engagement and decides by 28 February.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrow: you must study at one specific university, live in Dalarna, and prove volunteering in Borlänge or Falun. Few people qualify. If you clearly meet those conditions and can document real social work with two references, your prospects are good. The jury weighs that engagement as heavily as your grades.
