Erasmus+ inclusion support at Uppsala University

You get extra money on top of your regular Erasmus+ grant if going abroad costs you more because of your personal situation. The top-up is 250 EUR per month for a normal Erasmus+ exchange or work placement. For short blended courses (part online, part on-site) you get a one-off 100 EUR for an on-site stay of 5 to 14 days, or a one-off 150 EUR for 15 to 30 days. If your real extra costs are higher than the flat top-up, you can claim them too. Examples are a preparatory visit, transport of aids or medication, adapted housing, an assistant who travels with you, childcare for children who come along, or continued psychological treatment at your study location. The money comes from the EU's Erasmus+ programme and is paid out by Uppsala University.

Who can apply

• You already have an Erasmus+ grant: You hold a regular Erasmus+ grant from Uppsala for an exchange or work placement abroad.
• You fit one of the support groups: You have a lasting disability (this includes physical illness, chronic conditions, sight or hearing loss, mental-health conditions such as anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder, and diagnoses such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia or dyscalculia); OR you have children (whether or not they travel with you); OR you have or have had refugee or protection status under national rules.
• Or you face other barriers: You can also apply if economic, social or cultural barriers or discrimination make studying abroad harder. Clarify the details with the Erasmus office.
• You can prove your situation: For example a certificate of your disability, a family certificate for your children, or a decision on your protection status.

How to apply

You apply in the MoveON system by answering "yes" to the question that matches your group. Then you fill in, sign and post the English application form with your proof to the Erasmus office at Uppsala University. Apply early: claims for real costs also need approval from the national council (UHR), which takes extra time.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a contest. If you already hold an Erasmus+ grant and can document a disability, children, or refugee or protection status, the flat top-up is guaranteed. Your chances depend on your paperwork. Send a clear certificate and apply in good time, especially for the real-cost reimbursement, which needs a second approval.
