Study trip scholarship from the Swedish District Nurses' Association (DSF)

You will receive 10,000 SEK (about 900 EUR) for a study trip abroad or an international exchange in connection with your work as a community nurse. The money covers costs such as travel expenses for a trip during which you learn something that you can apply in your profession. It is awarded by the Distriktssköterskeföreningen i Sverige (DSF), the professional association for community nurses in Sweden. Each year, the DSF provides a fixed sum of 10,000 SEK for a study trip.

Who can apply

• Membership: You have been a member of DSF for at least 2 years.
• Field: Your trip must be related to the work of a community nurse in the field of nursing and healthcare.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• A clear plan: You can explain the purpose of the trip, when it will take place, how much it will cost approximately, and how you will apply the experience you gain to your career.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the form on the DSF scholarships page. There, you must provide your personal details, the purpose and duration of your trip, a cost estimate and your professional background. The application deadline is no later than one month before the association’s Annual General Meeting (årsmöte). The DSF Executive Committee decides who will receive the grant, and no appeal may be lodged against this decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is very limited. You must be working as a community nurse and have been a member of the DSF for at least two years, meaning that only a small group of people are eligible to apply. If you meet these criteria and submit a clear plan with a realistic cost estimate, as well as a specific proposal for how you will put the experience gained to use, your chances are good. As only one scholarship for a study trip is awarded each year, a well-reasoned application is crucial.
