What you get

You receive a one-off payment of about 30,000 to 41,000 SEK (roughly 2,700 to 3,700 EUR) for your art studies. The exact sum changes each year with the fund's returns: it was 33,000 SEK in 2026 and 41,000 SEK in 2024. One person is chosen per round. The money comes from a historic donation managed by the Kungliga Konstakademien (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm, awarded within its scholarship programme for art students and young artists.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You study at the Kungliga Konsthögskolan (Royal Institute of Art) in Stockholm. This fund is only for students of that school.
• Level: You are an art student in higher education, most often at master's level.
• Field of study: Fine arts.
• What counts most: Your artistic ability is the main criterion. Financial need matters less.
• Financial need: You describe your economic situation in the application, and the academy weighs it alongside your artistic work.
• Repeat applications: If you have had a Konstakademien scholarship before, you can only apply again after three years.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study at the Royal Institute of Art.

How to apply

You apply through the academy's online system, where you create an account and upload images, an optional short video link and a CV. The application window for the next round opens in January 2027, and closes at 14:00 on the final day. Decisions for the spring round are made at the end of May, and only successful applicants are notified.

How realistic are your chances?

This fund is narrow: it goes only to students of the Royal Institute of Art, and just one person is picked per round. That keeps the eligible group small, but the single award makes it competitive among those students. Your artistic work is judged first, so a strong portfolio is what decides it. A documented financial need can tip a close call in your favour.
