About this scholarship

The Gothenburg School of Economics, Business and Law Fund Grant

You will receive 40,000 SEK (about 3,600 EUR) as a one-off grant awarded in recognition of outstanding academic achievement. The amount has varied in recent years (approximately 30,000 SEK in 2025, 40,000 SEK in 2024 and 2026), so please check the details for the current award round. Each year, at least one scholarship is awarded in each of the three categories: Bachelor’s degree programmes in Law, other Bachelor’s degree programmes at the Faculty, and Master’s degree programmes. The fund has been in existence since 1998 and supports students at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. You decide for yourself how you wish to spend the money.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg this spring semester.
  • Field of study: You study business, economics or law at the School. You can be on a full programme or taking single free-standing courses.
  • Credits done (undergraduate): You have earned at least 150 ECTS credits during your Bachelor’s degree.
  • Credits done (master's): If you are a Master’s student, you must also have completed at least one year (60 ECTS credits) of your Master’s programme.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you are enrolled at the school.
  • Grades and engagement: The ranking is based on the number of your modules in which you achieved the highest marks (VG/A/AB), as well as on your rate of study. It also takes into account your financial planning and a brief description of your participation in student life or your involvement with the university or the wider community.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the University of Gothenburg’s digital application system, which can be accessed via the student portal, and must be signed using Swedish BankID. You must attach a transcript of the courses you have completed, as well as proof of enrolment for the current semester. The application deadline is 18 February, and you will receive a response by the end of March.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined: only students from a faculty in Gothenburg who have already earned at least 150 credits are eligible to apply, so the pool of applicants is small. At least one scholarship is awarded in each of the three groups, which is helpful. If you have a track record of top marks, maintain a consistent pace of study and can demonstrate genuine commitment to student life, your chances are good.
