About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off scholarship of 25,000 SEK (about 2,200 EUR) for a dissertation in the field of wildlife and natural sciences. The funding comes from the Gothenburg Hunting Society Foundation, which supports research and work in the fields of hunting, shooting sports and wildlife management in Gothenburg and Bohuslän in western Sweden. If your dissertation addresses an important, topical issue, you may also apply for further research funding at a later date. The board will decide on this based on your qualifications and the relevance of the topic.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are a student at a university and are writing an accredited final dissertation (examensarbete).
  • Field of study: Your final-year dissertation will focus on one of the following areas: applied biology, wildlife biology and wildlife care, habitat management and nature conservation, practical hunting, wildlife management or related hunting legislation.
  • Where you are based: You are studying or working in Gothenburg or Bohuslän.
  • University: Any Swedish university counts.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You send your application to the board of the Gothenburg Hunting Society Foundation. The board decides on all awards. No application deadline is stated.

How realistic are your chances?

This award has very narrow eligibility criteria. You must write your dissertation on a specific topic within the fields of hunting and wildlife science, and be studying or working in Gothenburg or Bohuslän. This means the pool of eligible candidates is small, so only a few people are competing for this award. If your thesis clearly falls within these fields and you have a regional connection, your chances are good. A strong, topical research topic may also open the door to further funding later on.
