Linnaeus Union Engagement Scholarship

You get a one-off cash award for outstanding voluntary work that improves student life at Linnaeus University in Växjö and Kalmar, Sweden. The amount is not fixed. It equals the number of members the Linnaeus Union (Linkékaren, the student union that represents everyone at the university) had in the previous autumn semester, counted in Swedish kronor (SEK). So the award rises and falls with membership. With around 33,000 possible members, the sum can be substantial.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are a student at Linnaeus University.
• Membership: You are a member of the Linnaeus Union.
• What it rewards: You have shown exceptional commitment, for example by improving teaching, organising activities and building community, or helping other students succeed.
• Individuals only: Only single students can be nominated, not clubs, associations or other groups.
• Field of study: All subjects are open.

How to apply

You do not apply yourself; someone nominates you. Anyone can put forward a student through the Linnaeus Union website, with a short reason for why they deserve it. Nominations run in spring, with a deadline in April (19 April in the 2025 round).

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student wins each year, and only Linnaeus University members who made a real, visible difference to student life can be picked. If you are already active in the union, a club or another student initiative, and someone can describe your concrete impact, your prospects are decent. Good grades or a polished form count for nothing here. What stands out is a clear nomination that shows how many students you reached.
