LiU International Scholarship

You get a tuition fee waiver for a master's programme at Linköping University in Sweden. The university cuts your tuition fees by 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. Most awards in 2026 were 50% or 75%. If the waiver is partial, you pay the rest yourself. For example, someone with a 50% waiver in Aeronautical Engineering still paid about 41,500 SEK (roughly 3,700 EUR) for the first semester. The scholarship only lowers your fees and pays no cash. It covers the normal workload of 30 credits per semester. It applies only to the exact programme and year named in your admission offer. Linköping University offers a limited number of these waivers each year to fee-paying international master's students.

Who can apply

• Fees: You are a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, so under Swedish rules you pay tuition fees.
• Degree level: You have applied for a master's programme at Linköping University.
• Admission: You applied in the first admission round, listed a LiU master's programme as your first choice (rank 1 of 4), and were admitted to it in the first selection results (around the end of March).
• Grades: From 2026 you need a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, a first or high second class degree, or an equivalent average. As a guide, that is about 75% in India, 80-85% in China, or 8.0/10 on a 10-point scale.
• Field of study: Open to master's programmes across the whole university.

How to apply

First apply for admission to a LiU master's programme through universityadmissions.se in the first round, with LiU as your first priority. When you receive your selection results (around late March), a short scholarship window opens. In 2026 it ran from 26 to 30 March and closed at 23:59 CET. You need no extra documents, because your admission application is used. Results are published on the scholarship page in April.

How realistic are your chances?

Only a limited number of these waivers are awarded each year, and from 2026 the grade bar is high. This narrows the field to strong applicants who already have an admission offer. If you clearly meet the GPA standard and secure first-round admission to your first-choice programme, your prospects are reasonable. The window is very short, so act as soon as your selection results arrive.
