Michael Treschow Scholarship

You get a one-off payment of 100,000 SEK (about 8,900 EUR) for your master's studies in design and innovation. It is a single lump sum, not a monthly grant. One student is chosen each year by a jury made up of the House of Innovation at the Stockholm School of Economics and the Treschow family. They pick the project with the strongest design thinking and clearest social impact. The award goes to students who use design to improve organisations and businesses and to benefit society and a sustainable future.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in design or a related field.
• Study phase: You are enrolled in a master's programme or plan to start one.
• Where you study: You study in Sweden, meaning you did your bachelor's there or plan your master's there.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Your work: You can show that you tackle complex problems with creativity and empathy, with a clear focus on positive social change and sustainability.

How to apply

You apply by email to the House of Innovation. Send your CV, a motivation letter and a digital portfolio of your four best works. In 2025 the application window ran from 18 August to 30 September. The scholarship runs again in 2026, with the deadline announced closer to the date.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one student is chosen each year, so this is a single high-profile award and the competition is real. The target group is narrow, though: you need a design background, master's plans and studies based in Sweden, which keeps the eligible pool small. Your strongest lever is the project itself, so a well-documented portfolio showing real social impact is what decides it.
