About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a grant to support a craft that has historical roots and is still practised today. The theme of 2026 is ‘Crafts with a History’ (Hantverk med historia). You can use the money to attend or run courses, buy materials, learn the craft yourself, or create teaching materials so that others can learn it. There is no fixed amount per project. In 2016, the foundation distributed more than 500,000 SEK (approximately 44,000 EUR) across six projects. It was founded in 2005 by Professor Emeritus Ingemar Ingemarsson and his wife Margareta to promote teaching and education in Sweden. It awards grants approximately every two years on a varying theme.

Eligibility

  • What you do: You work in a craft with historical roots and would like to deepen or broaden your skills in this field.
  • Sharing your knowledge: The Foundation gives preference to applicants who share their knowledge with others.
  • Where you are based: Your craft and teaching work must be within Sweden.
  • Field: This changes in each round depending on the topic. 2026 refers to crafts with historical roots; in previous rounds, the topic was aimed at teachers and researchers within the Swedish school system.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Independence: Your work must be politically and religiously independent.
