What you get

You will receive a grant of one-off grant to cover study costs not covered by your Swedish study grant (studiebidrag) and your student loan (studielån) from CSN. The amount is calculated individually for each recipient and is not published. In the 2025 round, the Foundation distributed a total of 2,017,000 SEK (approximately 175,000 EUR) to the students it selected. The money is intended for current or future expenses. It must not be used to pay for purchases already made, nor to settle debts, loans or instalment payments. The foundation is based in Gothenburg and distributes the annual returns on its endowment (its invested capital).

Who can apply

• Where you live: You live in Sweden.
• Where you study: You are studying at a university, a university of applied sciences or a similar state-recognised institution.
• Age: You are 25 years old or younger in the current calendar year. Applicants aged 21 years or younger will be given priority, but older applicants up to the age of 25 may also apply.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Your costs: You have study costs that are not yet covered by your CSN study grant and student loan.

How to apply

You apply online via the Foundation’s portal to the SEB between 1 and 30 November each year. You must enclose your certificate of enrolment, your CSN notification and your payment plan, as well as a personal certificate (personbevis) from the Swedish Tax Agency, which must not be more than 6 months old. The notifications will be sent digitally the following February.

How realistic are your chances?

Only students who live in Sweden and are 25 years old or younger are eligible to apply, which limits the pool of applicants. The total amount is distributed amongst many recipients rather than being allocated to a few large grants. If you clearly meet the age and residence requirements and can provide evidence of costs not covered by your CSN grant, your prospects are good. It is an advantage if you are 21 years old or younger. Make sure you submit a complete application within the November deadline, as late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
