Renström education scholarship

You get money towards vocational training, either higher theoretical study or practical training. The scholarship comes from a Swedish foundation set up in 1959. The foundation does not publish a fixed amount. It decides each case individually and pays out once a year, usually at the end of November. Its aim is to help young people from the old Skaraborg county train for a job.

Who can apply

• Where you are from: You were born in, or live in, one of the municipalities that made up Skaraborg county before 1 January 1998: Essunga, Falkoping, Grastorp, Gullspang, Gotene, Habo, Hjo, Karlsborg, Lidkoping, Mariestad, Mullsjo, Skara, Skovde, Tibro, Tidaholm, Toreboda or Vara. Being born in one of them is enough.
• Type of study: You are doing vocational training, either higher theoretical study or practical training.
• Age: Your training must finish before you turn 35.
• Financial need: The foundation prefers applicants who cannot easily pay for their studies themselves.
• Nationality and gender: Anyone can apply. The foundation sets no limit on nationality or gender.

How to apply

You apply through the foundation's online portal. The window runs every year from 1 September to 31 October. Attach proof of enrolment or an admission letter, plus a certificate showing where you live.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is aimed at a narrow group. You must be born in or live in one of the listed Skaraborg municipalities, and your vocational training must finish before you turn 35. Few people fit, so few compete. If you clearly meet those conditions and can show you cannot easily fund your studies, your prospects are good.
