About this scholarship

Travel Grant from Jernkontoret

You will receive a travel grant to fund a study trip as part of the joint steel research project organised by Jernkontoret, the Swedish Steel Manufacturers’ Association. There is no fixed amount. When applying, you specify the amount required in Swedish kronor (SEK), and the level of funding depends on the foundation’s income for the year in question. The grant primarily covers study trips abroad, for example to deepen your specialist knowledge, to take part in a project that benefits the steel industry, or to present research findings at an international event.

Who can apply

  • Field: Your work involves research into iron, steel or metals.
  • Your trip: You are planning a study trip that ties in with Jernkontoret’s research, deepens your knowledge or gives you the opportunity to present your findings abroad.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Institution: Any university or institute is fine.
  • Group applications: You may apply on your own or together with up to 3 other applicants.

How to apply

You apply via Jernkontoret’s online form, where you should select the ‘Resebidrag’ (travel grant) option and attach a brief description of your project along with a cost breakdown. Decisions on the award of grants are made four times a year; the deadlines are 20 February, 20 April, 20 August and 20 October.

How realistic are your chances?

Your project must be clearly related to Jernkontoret’s steel research, which is why the pool of suitable applicants is small. If your project fits in with this research and you submit a detailed financial plan, your chances are good. As there are four rounds of decision-making each year, you also have several opportunities to apply.
