About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off study grant to cover your education costs. The foundation does not set a fixed amount per student. It determines the amount based on the annual return on its investments. In 2025, it paid out a total of 800,000 SEK (approximately 70,000 EUR) to students across the region. The money is transferred to the same account into which your Swedish student grant (CSN) is paid. The Per Eriksson Foundation is a private foundation established in 1928 that supports people living in the Västmanland part of Örebro County.

Who can apply

  • Where you live: You, or at least one of your parents, have lived in the ‘Västmanland’ part of Örebro County for at least 5 years. This includes the municipalities of Hällefors, Ljusnarsberg, Lindesberg and Nora, as well as Järle and Ervalla.
  • Level of study: You are attending a grammar school, a vocational college (YH/FH), an adult education centre (Komvux) or a university.
  • Full-time: You study full time.
  • How far along you are: For gymnasium and university, you can apply from your second year onwards. For komvux or vocational college, you can apply from the first year.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Nationality: Any nationality, provided you meet the residence requirements.
  • Grades: The award of the scholarship is based on your academic progress; therefore, your rate of study, your progress and your marks are decisive factors. Priority will be given to students from the former Nora Bergsförsamling parish and the Vikers parish.
  • Not for researchers: PhD students and researchers are not eligible to apply.

How to apply

You apply online via the Foundation’s SBS Manager system and sign using BankID. The application window runs every year from mid-August until 18 September. Please include a personal cover letter that you have written yourself; cover letters that appear to have been generated by AI will be assessed less favourably.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut very narrowly. You need a five-year tie to a handful of municipalities in northern Örebro county, so few students qualify. If you clearly meet the residence rule, study full time and can show a solid study record, your prospects are good. They are even better if you come from the Nora or Vikers parish areas that get priority.
