The Scott Prize (BA Physics)

For achieving the best overall result in the final examination of the BA degree programme in Physics at the University of Oxford, you will receive a one-off cash prize of about 505 EUR. The prize is awarded by the Department of Physics. The decision is made by the examiners on the basis of your examination marks; therefore, no separate application is required. The award recognises outstanding achievement throughout the entire three-year BA degree programme in Physics, assessed on the basis of examination papers in Part A (second year) and Part B (third year), practical work, and a project or essay.

• University: You’re studying at the University of Oxford.
• Degree: You are in the final year of the three-year Bachelor’s degree programme in Physics.
• Field: Physics only.
• Grades: You’ll achieve the best overall result in the final BA exam. Only the very best will win.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

No application is required. The examiners award the prize automatically on the basis of your final examination results.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is awarded exclusively to the very best graduates of the BA degree programme in Physics at Oxford; therefore, it is not possible to prepare for it or apply for it. It is earned solely on the basis of one’s examination results in comparison with a small group of physics students at Oxford. It can only be achieved through strong, consistent performance throughout all three years of study.
