Ashley Family Foundation Scholarship

You will receive up to £9,500 (about 11,000 EUR) as a grant towards your tuition fees for the Master’s programme in ‘Textile Design’ at Chelsea College of Arts, which is part of the University of the Arts London (UAL). The grant covers tuition fees only; it does not cover living costs. The Master’s programme lasts two years. The funding is provided by the Ashley Family Foundation, which supports a student who combines outstanding academic achievement with genuine financial need.

Who can apply

• Course: You have been offered a place on the ‘Textile Design’ Master’s programme at Chelsea College of Arts, UAL.
• Fee status: As far as tuition fees are concerned, you are treated as a UK home student rather than an international fee-paying student.
• Grades: You are well on your way to obtaining a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) with a ‘First Class’ grade or 2:1, or have already obtained one. If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree, an equivalent qualification and relevant professional experience may also be taken into account.
• Financial need: You are unable to cover your fees in full yourself and can provide evidence of this based on your household income.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they meet the requirements for ‘UK Home’ fee status.

How to apply

Please complete the online application form and submit a portfolio, a recent CV and an academic or professional reference. The portfolio must consist of a single PDF file containing up to 15 labelled image pages, as well as a brief introduction. The application deadline is 29 August.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined. It is aimed at a single student on a specific Master’s programme, and you must have ‘UK Home’ status, have excellent academic results and have a demonstrable financial need. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet all the criteria and submit a compelling portfolio, your chances are good. Both your academic achievements and your financial situation will be taken into account during the selection process; therefore, make sure you clearly outline your financial needs.
