About this scholarship

Alan Newell Scholarship

You will receive a 50% reduction on your tuition fees for one year, awarded on the basis of your marks. It is funded by the School of Computing at the University of Dundee in Scotland. The scholarship is named after Alan Newell, a computer scientist from Dundee who pioneered technology for people with disabilities. Please note that this scholarship only covers your tuition fees. It is neither a cash payment nor a fully funded place at university.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are taking a computer science course at the School of Computing at the University of Dundee.
  • Level: You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student.
  • Fee status: You are an international student paying international tuition fees, and you are not a UK or EU student.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities may apply, provided they have international student status.
  • Grades: Outstanding academic achievement is the key to success.
  • One award only: You may apply for more than one scholarship offered by the School of Computing, but you will only receive one fee reduction.

How to apply

You do not need to apply in advance. As soon as the School of Computing offers you a place, you will receive a scholarship application form by email. Please complete this and return it by the deadline. Once the deadline has passed, you will be informed whether your application has been successful.
