About this scholarship

The Difference Undergraduate Scholarship

You will receive about 5,800 EUR per year (£5,000) for the standard three years of your bachelor’s degree, amounting to a total of approximately 17,400 EUR (£15,000). You decide for yourself how you would like to use the money: either as a reduction in your tuition fees or as a living allowance to help cover your living costs. The University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, England, funds this through donations to enable students from low-income households to study. Three of these scholarships are awarded each year.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are starting your first bachelor’s degree at the UEA.
  • Field of study: Open to all Bachelor’s degree programmes at the UEA, from law and medicine to music and computer science.
  • Where you study: You’re studying at UEA in Norwich, and UEA is your first-choice university.
  • Nationality: You are a student from the UK and pay UK (domestic) tuition fees.
  • Financial need: Your household income is less than £30,000 per year.
  • Other awards: You are not receiving any other UEA scholarship, as the two scholarships cannot be combined.

The university also takes into account your academic potential, your academic record to date and the extent to which you would enrich student life.

How to apply

Please complete the online application form. The application deadline for the start of the academic year in the following September is 3 May.

How realistic are your chances?

Only three of these scholarships are awarded each year, so this highly lucrative award attracts a large number of applicants. However, the eligibility criteria are strict: you must be a British student whose household income is below £30,000 and who has listed UEA as their first choice. If you clearly meet these criteria, can demonstrate your financial need and show a genuine interest in your chosen subject, your chances are good. It is advisable to apply well in advance of the May deadline.
