UK Electronics Skills Foundation Industrial Scholarships

During the first three years of your degree, you will receive 1,000 GBP per year (about 1,150 EUR). This funding is provided by companies in the industry, including Cirrus Logic, STMicroelectronics, Dialog Semiconductor, Analog Devices and Leonardo. If you are on an MEng degree programme, in years 4 and 5 you will apply directly to one of these companies for support for your 7-month final-year project, which you will carry out within the company.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are studying at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.
• Degree: You are studying for an accredited BEng degree (4 years) or MEng degree (5 years) in electronics, electrical engineering or a related single-subject degree programme.
• Grades: You must have at least 4 ‘A’ grades at Higher level, including Mathematics, or at least 3 ‘A’ grades at Advanced Higher or A-level.
• Nationality: You are a student from the UK.
• Progress: You must achieve satisfactory academic results each year in order to retain your funding.
• Combining awards: This scholarship cannot be combined with the separate scholarship programme run by the UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF).

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must be a British student enrolled on a specific degree course in electronics or electrical engineering at a university, and you must meet certain academic requirements. The pool of eligible applicants is therefore small. If you clearly meet these subject and grade requirements, your chances are good. As the funding depends on sponsorship from industry and satisfactory academic progress, you should maintain good academic performance throughout your degree.
