Access to Professions Bursary (King's College London)

During the first three years of your degree, you will receive a grant of about EUR 3,480 per year (£3,000), making a total of around EUR 10,440 (£9,000) in total. King’s College London pays this grant directly to students from low-income households who are starting one of two specific degree programmes in medicine or dentistry. For 2025/26, up to 83 scholarships are available.

Who can apply

• Programme: You are enrolled at King’s University on one of two degree programmes: the ‘Extended Medical Degree Programme’ (6 years, A101) or the ‘Enhanced Support Dentistry Programme’ (5 years, A206).
• Study year: You are in your first year of study and will be starting in September 2025.
• Study phase: This is your first bachelor’s degree.
• Enrolment: You study full time.
• Fee status: Your fee status is ‘home’, i.e. the fee rate for students resident in the United Kingdom.
• Financial need: Your household income is £42,875 or less. This will be verified as part of a means test.

How to apply

You do not need to submit a separate application. If you meet the criteria, your application will be assessed automatically by King’s. For this to work, you must give your ‘consent to share’ your financial details with King’s when you apply to Student Finance England. Please complete this application by 28. November 2025 for the first round. Further rounds will take place monthly until 31 July 2026, whilst scholarships remain available. Decisions for the first round will be announced in early December 2025.

How realistic are your chances?

The scholarship is highly selective: only students on the two King’s degree programmes mentioned, with a household income below £42,875, are eligible, so the pool of applicants is small. If you clearly meet the criteria, the fact that there is no separate application form means one less hurdle to overcome. Nevertheless, the 83 places are limited, and meeting the criteria does not guarantee approval. If you submit your application for student finance before the November deadline, you’ll have the best chance of success in the first round.
