About this award / prize
The Rolls-Royce Prize for Innovation in a MPhys Project
You will receive a one-off prize of about 176 EUR (£150) for your innovative achievements as part of your MPhys dissertation. MPhys stands for the Master’s degree in Physics, and the dissertation is the research project you undertake at the end of your degree. Rolls-Royce is funding the prize. It is one of 22 awards presented by the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford for outstanding achievements as part of the ‘Final Honour School of Physics’.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are studying for an MPhys (Master of Physics) at the University of Oxford.
- Field: Physics, assessed on the basis of your MPhys research project.
- What counts: Your project stands out for its innovative nature.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
No application is required, and there is no deadline for applications. The department automatically awards the prize to the student whose MPhys project it considers to be the most innovative.
How realistic are your chances?
This prize is awarded annually to a student selected from among the graduates of the MPhys programme at Oxford. The pool of candidates is small, but the bar is set high. You cannot apply directly; the department selects the project it considers to be the most innovative. Focus on producing truly original work – the recognition will follow naturally.
