About this scholarship

Winter Williams Studentship

You will receive about 8,850 EUR per year (GBP 7,500) for a postgraduate law programme at the University of Oxford. The funding covers the entire duration of your studies, i.e. the number of years for which you would normally pay tuition fees. The scholarship is awarded by the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford. It was established in 1923 by Ivy Williams, the first woman to be called to the English Bar, in memory of her brother Winter Williams.

  • University: You’re studying law at the University of Oxford. It doesn’t matter which college you’re at.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Your application to study law at Oxford will be considered automatically. This application must be received by the University of Oxford by the deadline for Master’s programmes in January.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded each year, and anyone who has been admitted to a postgraduate law programme at Oxford is eligible, so competition is fierce. There is no need to complete a separate application form, so selection depends solely on the quality of your application for the programme. Admission to the law programme at Oxford is in itself a demanding process, so outstanding academic performance is crucial to remaining in the running.
