About this scholarship

Hollier Graduate Scholarship in Greek

You will receive up to 4,700 EUR (£4,000) per year as a contribution towards your tuition fees, which will be paid out in October. Over the course of a two-year postgraduate programme, this amount totals around 9,400 euros. University College London (UCL) awards this scholarship through its Department of Greek and Latin. It is a one-off annual scholarship for students of Ancient Greek.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are a doctoral student and are either undertaking a Master’s degree (MA) or a research degree (MPhil/PhD).
  • Where you study: You are studying at the Department of Greek and Latin at UCL in London.
  • Subject: Your degree programme focuses on Ancient Greek.
  • Nationality: Anyone can apply, regardless of their nationality.
  • Admission: You have submitted a complete application for a postgraduate programme in our department.

How to apply

First, submit your application for a postgraduate programme to the Institute of Greek and Latin at UCL. Applicants for a Master’s programme must also submit a separate application form for a scholarship from the Institute. The application deadline is 30 June, and applicants will be notified of the decision in July.

How realistic are your chances?

As only PhD students specialising in Ancient Greek within a specific department at UCL are eligible to apply, the pool of applicants is small. If you clearly fall within this field of study and are admitted to the programme, your prospects are quite good. Please note that the department awards several similar scholarships in this field.
