About this scholarship
Bangor Bursary
Throughout your Bachelor’s degree at Bangor University in Wales, you will receive an annual grant of up to about 1,150 EUR per year (up to £1,000). The exact amount depends on your household income. If your family’s taxable income is up to £25,000,, you will receive £1,000 per year. If it is between £25,001 and £40,000,, you will receive £500 per year. The amount is paid annually as a lump sum, in addition to any student grants and other scholarships from Bangor University that you may receive.
Who can apply
- Level: You are a full-time undergraduate student at Bangor University.
- Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.
- Home country: You are a student from the United Kingdom.
- Tuition fees: You pay the full, maximum tuition fees to Bangor University.
- Household income: Your household’s taxable income is less than £40,000 per year.
- Not eligible: You are not eligible for this grant if you receive funding from Student Finance Wales or NHS Wales, or if you are from Wales and started your degree in September 2018.
How to apply
No separate application is required. The university will automatically assess your eligibility based on your application to Student Finance. Your household income will be passed on to the university as soon as your parents or partner consent to its disclosure. Decisions are usually sent by post and via the Student Finance online portal towards the end of February.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a means-tested grant. If you meet the income and study requirements, you will receive the grant, and your eligibility will be reviewed each year. The main grounds for exclusion are a household income of more than £40,000 or receiving support from Student Finance Wales or NHS Wales. Please ensure that you and your parents or partner consent to the disclosure of your income details, as otherwise the payment cannot be made.
