Brookes Sport Scholarship Programme

You get up to 1,150 EUR per academic year (£1,000) at the Gold tier, or about 575 EUR (£500) at Silver, paid by Oxford Brookes University to student athletes. There are three tiers: Gold, Silver and Bronze. All three share the same support package: team kit, a Sport & Active Wellness fitness membership, one-to-one sport psychology, discounted physiotherapy, strength and conditioning coaching, an anti-doping workshop, and academic flexibility so your studies fit around training and competition. Bronze comes with this package but no cash. Funding runs for one academic year, and you can reapply each year to keep it.

Who can apply

• University: You study at Oxford Brookes University, as an undergraduate or postgraduate.
• Study load: You take at least 60 credits in the academic year.
• Competition level: You compete at academy or age-group international standard or higher in your sport.
• Representing Brookes: You compete for the university in British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) events or similar.
• Recognised sport: Your sport is affiliated to a national governing body. Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and BUCS sports get priority.
• Nationality: All nationalities and genders can apply.

How to apply

You apply through an online form by 30 September for the following academic year. Every application is reviewed individually. Gold-tier candidates are interviewed in early October, and all applicants hear the result about a week later.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is tightly cut. You must already be a Brookes student and compete at academy or international age-group level, so only serious athletes are in the running. If you clearly meet that competition standard and represent Brookes in BUCS, your prospects are good. Even a Bronze outcome still gives you the full coaching and support package. Apply by the deadline and give complete evidence of your results.
