About this scholarship

What the sports scholarship gives you

You will receive a grant of up to about 290 EUR (up to 250 GBP) towards your training and competition costs, as well as practical support in addition to this sum. This support includes a one-year membership of the ISE (the University’s Institute for Sport and Exercise, with access to the gym and facilities), official University of Dundee sports scholarship kit, and strength and conditioning training. You can also apply for additional funding for specific events. The scholarship is provided by the University of Dundee Sports Union.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled as a student at the University of Dundee.
  • Sporting level: You are taking part as an athlete or official at international junior level or above. This applies to athletes, officials and referees.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying in Dundee.
  • Commitment: You’ll represent the university at ‘British Universities and Colleges Sport’ (BUCS) events, giving you the chance to demonstrate that you’re making progress at a high level in your sport.

How to apply

Please apply using the Sports Association’s ‘Application for a Sports Scholarship’ form. The application deadline is 15 September of each academic year. If you are still considering whether to choose Dundee, you can start by completing the form for performance support. The Sports Development Manager will then get in touch with you to discuss what support is available.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are quite strict: you must be studying at a specific university and already be active as an athlete or referee at international junior level or higher, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet this sporting standard and represent Dundee in BUCS competitions, your chances are good. Apply before the deadline in September, as only a limited number of scholarships are awarded each year.
