Organ Scholarship at the University of Hull

You will receive about EUR 2,300 per year (£2,000) for the three years of your music degree, amounting to a total of up to approximately 6,900 (£6,000) euros. You can combine this with a scholarship from the University of Hull worth £3,000 per year, bringing the total funding over three years to £15,000. In return, you will play the organ at university events, give concerts, conduct the university chapel choir and assist the music director at Beverley Minster.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree in music at the University of Hull.
• Main instrument: The main instrument you focus on and will be assessed on is the organ.
• Duties: You are ready to perform at concerts and official events, to conduct the university choir and to get involved in musical activities at Beverley Minster.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

Please apply to the University’s Department of Music using the application form provided there. Decisions on the award of the scholarship will be made before you start your studies; you should therefore apply in good time.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an individual scholarship for an organist who is about to commence a music degree in Hull; consequently, the pool of eligible applicants is very small. If the organ is your main instrument and you would like to take on the role of organist, you will face very little competition.
