Hull York Medical School - Hull York Medical Bursary

Benefit

You get £1,000 per year (about 1,150 EUR) for each year of your medical degree at Hull York Medical School (HYMS). You receive it either as a discount on your university-managed accommodation or, if you live elsewhere, as a cash payment. HYMS is a joint medical school run by the University of Hull and the University of York. The bursary helps students from lower-income families afford to study medicine.

Eligibility

• Where you study: You are studying medicine at Hull York Medical School. This includes both students who have gained entry to university on the basis of another degree, and students taking a gap year (i.e. those who spend an additional year during their medical studies to complete a separate degree).
• Nationality and residence: You are a student from the UK (domestic) or an EU student living in the UK.
• Financial need: Your remaining household income is less than £35,000 per year. The remaining income is the amount left over after certain allowances have been deducted from your family’s gross income.

How to apply

You do not need to submit a separate application. HYMS automatically assesses your eligibility based on the income details provided in your application for student finance.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a scholarship awarded through a selection process. If you are a home student studying medicine at HYMS and your household income is below £35,000,, you are eligible for it. No separate application is required, and there is no selection process. Your eligibility depends solely on whether you meet the income threshold and have provided the correct details regarding your funding for your studies.
