About this scholarship

Quality by Design fee discount (De Montfort University)

You will receive a tuition fee discount for the distance-learning programme ‘Quality by Design for the Pharmaceutical Industry’ at De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, England. This is a fee reduction, not a cash payment. It will be deducted directly from your tuition fees upon enrolment. It applies for the entire duration of the part-time programme: up to three years for the full MSc (180 credits) or for a shorter period if you are studying for the PG Diploma (120 credits) or the PG Certificate (60 credits). The discount is funded by DMU’s ‘Health and Life Sciences Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship’. It is available for the academic years 2025/26 and 2026/27. The course is delivered online. It has been developed in collaboration with major pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Novartis for those wishing to learn about the science-based approach to drug development and manufacturing.

Who can apply

  • Your degree: You hold a first-class university degree (at least 2:2 or equivalent) in a chemical, biological or physical discipline, such as chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences or physics. A balanced combination of professional and academic qualifications is also accepted.
  • Course: You are enrolling on the ‘Pharmaceutical Quality by Design’ Master’s programme, the Postgraduate Diploma or the Postgraduate Certificate via distance learning.
  • Former DMU student: You have already obtained a degree from DMU Leicester or one of its international partner institutions.
  • No previous DMU postgraduate degree: You have not yet completed a postgraduate programme at DMU.
  • Paying your own way: You are responsible for paying all your fees yourself. Student loans are permitted; however, students who receive partial financial support are not eligible to take part.
  • No debts: You have no outstanding payments to the university.
  • English level: If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each section.
  • Nationality: Open to applicants of all nationalities.

How to apply

You do not need to apply for the discount separately. As soon as you enrol as an eligible DMU graduate on an eligible degree programme, it will be granted automatically. You apply for the degree programme itself via the DMU’s application portal for postgraduate programmes.

How realistic are your chances?

This discount is very narrowly defined. You must be a former DMU student, enrol on a specific pharmaceutical degree programme and pay your tuition fees yourself. This means that the number of eligible students remains small. If you meet these conditions, there is neither a competitive process nor a selection panel. The discount is granted automatically upon enrolment. Above all, you should check whether your degree programme is still listed as eligible for the current academic year.
