University of St Andrews - Students Association 600th Anniversary Bursary Fund

What you get

You will receive £500 per year (about 580 EUR) to cover your living expenses whilst studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. If you wish, you may also use the money to cover your accommodation costs at the university. Payments are made in ten monthly instalments from September to May, with a double payment in February. The scholarship is renewed annually for the duration of your undergraduate degree, provided you continue to meet the academic requirements. It is funded by donations from former students of the university, made to mark the university’s 600th anniversary, and forms part of the Wardlaw Scholarship Programme.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a Bachelor’s student and are studying full-time or part-time during the day.
• Where you study: You’re studying at the University of St Andrews.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Home: Your fee status is ‘Scotland (domestic)’ or ‘Rest of the United Kingdom’, i.e. England, Northern Ireland or Wales. International applicants and those from abroad are not eligible to apply.
• Financial need: You must provide evidence of your household income and prove that you are experiencing financial difficulties.
• Stage: You are applying as a prospective student after you have submitted your application for a place at St Andrews.

How to apply

Once you have applied for a place to start your studies in the academic year 2026–2027, submit your application using the ‘St Andrews Access Award’ form in your online applicant account. Upload proof of your household income there. The deadline is 15 April; late applications will not be considered. You will receive a response in the week beginning 25 May.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is restricted to students at the University of St Andrews from Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom who can demonstrate financial need; the target group is therefore significantly smaller than for an open scholarship. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of your household income, your chances are good. Make sure you apply well in advance of the deadline in April, as late applications will not be considered.
