UAL Bursaries

You get £1,500 (about 1,750 EUR) as a single payment for the study year. The University of the Arts London (UAL) pays it in December, straight into the bank account you registered with your student finance body. It goes to undergraduate students who already receive the maximum government student funding. There is no competition: everyone who meets the criteria gets it automatically.

Who can apply

• Fee status: You have Home fee status, meaning you count as a UK student for fee purposes.
• University: You study at the University of the Arts London (UAL).
• Course: You are on a full-time undergraduate course. A placement or diploma of professional studies (DPS) year does not count.
• State funding: You get the maximum funding from one of the four UK student finance bodies: Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).
• Field of study: Any undergraduate subject at UAL qualifies.

How to apply

You do not submit a separate application. If Student Finance England, Wales or Northern Ireland funds you, you are checked automatically, as long as you let your funding body share your details with the university. If SAAS funds you, email your SAAS funding confirmation letter to UAL's Student Funding Service. You hear back by the end of November.

How realistic are your chances?

There is no competition: every UAL undergraduate who meets the conditions gets the £1,500. The only question is whether you fit, above all whether you have Home fee status and receive the maximum government funding. If you do, the bursary is essentially guaranteed once your details reach the university.
