Hill Foundation Scholarship (Oxford)

You will receive 100% of your Oxford course and college fees paid as well as a living expenses allowance of approximately 17,835 EUR per year (around £15,285). This funding applies for the entire duration of your studies, provided you make satisfactory academic progress. The Hill Foundation is a British charity founded in 2001. It supports Russian students at the University of Oxford and has so far funded over 110 scholarship holders.

Who can apply

• Nationality and home: You are a citizen of the Russian Federation and are ordinarily resident in Russia.
• Previous degree: You have already obtained your first academic degree from a Russian university.
• What you study at Oxford: You are applying for a second Bachelor’s degree programme at Oxford (a second BA).
• Study history: Since graduating with a degree in Russian, you have not undertaken any further studies outside Russia.
• After graduation: You intend to leave the United Kingdom upon completion of your studies and to pursue a career in fields that will benefit Russian society, such as business, academia, the civil service or the arts.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Grades: You will need to have excellent academic results, as scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic performance.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the University of Oxford’s online form for Bachelor’s scholarships. The application deadline is 4 February. The selection process takes place in April, and you will be notified of the result by the end of May. Applications from Bachelor’s students are only considered once. Therefore, if you have deferred your place, please apply in January of the year in which you actually commence your studies.

How realistic are your chances?

Oxford itself states that competition for this programme is very fierce and that there is no alternative funding available should an applicant not be successful. On the other hand, the admission criteria are quite strict: you must be a Russian university graduate returning to study for a second bachelor’s degree, which keeps the pool of applicants small. If you clearly meet these conditions and can demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, your prospects are realistic.
