About this scholarship
Oxford Brookes Bursary Scheme
In addition to your government maintenance loan, you will receive an annual grant of approximately 875 EUR, which you will never have to repay. The exact amount depends on your household income, your age and where you live. If you started in 2024/25 or earlier, you will receive between approximately 585 EUR (£500) and 3,500 EUR (£3,000) per year. If you start your degree in 2025/26 or later, you will receive around 1,170 to 1,460 EUR (£1,000 to £1,250) per year. The higher amounts are paid to students who are older than 21, or to those from regions where few people go to university. Oxford Brookes University pays out the money itself, in three instalments spread throughout the year.
Who can apply
- University: You are studying full-time and on-campus at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford.
- Level: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree.
- Field of study: Open to students on almost all Bachelor’s degree programmes at Oxford Brookes University.
- Nationality: Your status is ‘UK Home-Fee’. Students from the EU and international students are not eligible to apply.
- Financial need: Your household income is low. If your income is below a specified threshold, you will receive the full grant; in the income bracket immediately above that, you will receive a lower amount.
- Loan: You have applied for a government maintenance loan and meet the eligibility criteria.
- Extra amounts: You will receive a higher amount if you are 21 or older at the start of the year, or if the postcode of your place of residence is in an area where few people go to university.
How to apply
You do not need to submit an application. The university will check whether you meet the eligibility criteria based on the household income details provided by the Student Loans Company. There is no form to fill in and no deadline. Simply ensure that your household income is stated in your application for student finance, as the university will use this information for its assessment.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a means-tested allowance. If you meet the income and school enrolment criteria, you will receive it automatically, so there is no selection process to go through. The amount of the allowance depends on your household income, your age and where you live.
