About this award / prize

What the UKeiG Research Award gives you

You will receive a one-off grant of approximately 1,150 EUR (£1,000) for a small-scale research project on online, internet or digital information services. You may use this grant to cover travel and accommodation costs or other actual costs incurred in connection with the work. The grant does not have to cover the full cost of the project, so you may apply for further funding alongside it. It is provided by the UKeiG (UK eInformation Group), a specialist group within CILIP, the UK association for library and information professionals. The grant is aimed at individuals who wish to undertake research alongside their professional work.

Who can apply

  • Membership: You are currently a paying member of the UKeiG.
  • Your work: You are employed in the Information Services department as a qualified professional, not as a student. Full-time and part-time students engaged in academic research are not eligible to apply.
  • Field: Your project concerns the provision or use of information on the internet, online or on CD-ROM.
  • Project: Your research is original and of benefit to the wider research community.
  • Past awards: You have not won a UKeiG Research Prize in the last three years.
  • Committee: You are not a member of the UKeiG Executive Board in the year of your application.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Please submit a brief research proposal to UKeiG. In it, you should set out your research question, your objectives, your methodology, the timeframe, the expected results, the people involved, and how you intend to use the funding. Funding is awarded from time to time, though not every year, and there is no fixed deadline for submissions.
