About this scholarship
What the family foundation gives
You will receive financial support either as a grant or as a loan. The Board determines the amount on a case-by-case basis, so there is no fixed amount per person. The money can be used for your training or studies, for travel, setting up a home, starting a business or buying a flat. In total, the foundation distributes approximately 100,000 DKK (approximately 13,400 EUR) annually amongst all the people it supports. The money comes from the family foundation of wholesaler Gert Lassen and his wife Margrethe Lassen (Grosserer Gert Lassen og hustru Margrethe Lassens Familiefond), a Danish foundation established in 1986. The board decides who receives funding, so there is no guarantee of support.
Who can apply
- Family link: You are a descendant of the founders, Gert and Margrethe Lassen, or are married to such a descendant. This is the most important requirement and determines everything.
- Who is excluded: You cannot apply if you are a founder or another donor, or if you are their spouse or child and are assessed for tax jointly with them.
- Field of study: All subjects are open.
- Where you study: Any school or university will do.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply; the only determining factor is family lineage.
- Financial need: In your application, please state whether you have a specific need, are in financial difficulty, or are applying for a ‘free’ grant without a specific need.
There is a second option, though it is rarely used. Should no eligible descendants come forward, the foundation may provide support to current and former employees of the Oehlenschläger company (O. Oehlenschlägers Eftr.) and, thereafter, to charitable causes. As long as descendants apply, these groups will not receive any grants.
How to apply
You apply for the grant online via the ‘Grant Compass’ (Legatbogen) platform. The application period for descendants runs from 29 October to 14 November 2026. You must submit a financial plan, your current Danish tax assessment (årsopgørelse) and your provisional tax assessment (forskudsopgørelse). The committee decides on the applications directly.
