About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive 470 EUR to cover travel and living expenses for a work placement lasting at least a few weeks outside the EU. The funding is provided by the Caja Rural de Navarra and the Fundación Empresa Universidad de Navarra (FEUN). They fund work placements in countries such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Chile, Mexico, the Philippines and South Korea. The programme has been running for more than 25 years and awards around 55 to 65 grants each year.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, regardless of which faculty or college you are in.
  • Where you go: You are undertaking a work placement with a company or organisation outside the European Union.
  • Where you are from: You were born in Navarre, the Basque Country or La Rioja, or are officially registered (empadronado) there.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Language: You have a good enough command of the language of the destination country to carry out the assignment.
  • Placement: You have already found an internship abroad, and the host organisation is publishing the vacancy as part of the procedure.

How to apply

Applications are made via the application portal of the University of Navarra’s ‘Servicio de Prácticas y Empleo’ (Careers and Placement Service), where the host organisation will publish its internship offer. The application deadline is 15 March. Selection is based on your grades, your language skills, your CV and the quality of the placement. There will be no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must be studying at the University of Navarra, be from Navarra, the Basque Country or La Rioja, and already have a placement lined up outside the EU. This keeps the pool of applicants small. So, if you clearly meet these criteria and can demonstrate a solid work placement, your chances are good. Good grades and strong language skills will help you stand out from the crowd.
