About this scholarship
Grants for the Emilio Alarcos summer course
You will receive 500 EUR gross to take part in a 5-day summer course on Spanish grammar. The course takes place at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) in Santander. The funding covers your travel, accommodation and meal costs, as well as the course fee for that week. The Fundación Universidad de Oviedo awards 6 of these scholarships every year. Each edition has a different theme. In 2026, the theme is ‘Text Analysis and Teaching’; the course takes place from 20 to 24 July.
Who can apply
- University: You study at the University of Oviedo this academic year. You can show proof of enrolment and paid tuition.
- Level: You are a Bachelor’s (Grado), Master’s or PhD student. PhD students who are currently working on their dissertation are also welcome to apply.
- Field of study: Anyone can apply. The course itself focuses on the Spanish language and grammar.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of Oviedo.
- No double funding: You cannot hold another grant from a public or private body for the same course.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the online form on the Fundación Universidad de Oviedo’s events portal. The application deadline for the 2026 programme is 15 June 2026. Applications will be assessed on the basis of your level of study, your grades and any additional courses, publications or other relevant achievements.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is highly competitive: only students at the University of Oviedo may apply, and as only 6 scholarships are awarded each year, the pool of eligible applicants is small. Selection is based on a points system in which your grades carry the most weight; therefore, good academic performance is your strongest asset. If you are studying a language or philology subject and can demonstrate good results, your chances are good.
