Community of Madrid Excellence Scholarships

You will receive a one-off payment of 2,100 EUR for one academic year, which you are free to use towards your living costs. The Regional Government of the Autonomous Community of Madrid funds this scholarship to reward students with outstanding grades. It is a comprehensive programme: For 2025–2026, there are 2,559 grants available, which are allocated to first-year students and those already enrolled. You can combine this funding with other grants. It does not cover tuition fees.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a university or an arts college in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
• Level: You are currently studying for a bachelor’s degree (known as a ‘Grado’ in Spain) or an equivalent qualification. Master’s, PhD and postgraduate programmes are not eligible, and you must not have yet obtained your degree.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines, including theatre, music, dance, design and heritage conservation.
• Nationality: All nationalities welcome.
• If you are a first-year: You have taken the Spanish university entrance examination (PAU/EvAU) at a public university in Madrid, or you have completed your Bachillerato (upper secondary education) at a school in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
• Grades: You will need a very high grade point average. First-year students need around 12.9 points on the Spanish PAU scale. Students who are already enrolled need between approximately 8.35 and 9.20 points, depending on their subject, and must have passed all their exams at the first sitting.

How to apply

You must complete the online form on the website of the Autonomous Community of Madrid and then submit it together with your supporting documents – either online using a digital certificate or at a local registry office. You can apply for 2025-2026 from 9. to 29 January 2026. There is no interview: the selection panel ranks applicants within each category according to their grade point average until all places have been filled.

How realistic are your chances?

With 2,559 places available, there is a wide range of options, but the grade thresholds are high and the ranking is strictly enforced, meaning that only the best students are offered a place. If your average mark is well above the minimum required for your subject and you meet the eligibility criteria for the Madrid region, your chances are good. The further your marks exceed the threshold, the more secure your place on the course will be.
