University of Oviedo - Young Talent Retention Grants- Master Studies

Benefit

You will receive a one-off payment of 2,000 EUR for one academic year if you enrol on a Master’s degree programme in Asturias, Spain. The scholarship is awarded by the Regional Government of Asturias (Principado de Asturias). It is intended to retain talented graduates in the region whilst they are studying for their Master’s degree. If you are studying part-time (42 ECTS) or if your second year of the Master’s programme comprises fewer than 60 ECTS, the payment will be reduced in proportion to the number of ECTS credits you are taking.

Eligibility

• Degree level: You are enrolled in or have been admitted to an official Master’s degree programme (Máster Universitario) for the 2026–2027 academic year, comprising at least 60 ECTS credits.
• University: You are studying at the University of Oviedo or at the UNED (Spain’s National Distance Learning University).
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Grades: Your previous qualification (the one that enabled you to gain entry to the Master’s programme) has a grade point average of at least 6.0 out of 10.
• No earlier master: You have not yet obtained a master’s degree, either in Spain or abroad.
• Financial need: Your household income for 2025 is below the programme’s upper limits.
• Timing: You completed your undergraduate degree after 1 January 2005. If you are reapplying for a multi-year Master’s programme, the date must be after 1 January 2004.

How to apply

You can apply for the grant online via the Principality of Asturias’ electronic portal using the code AYUD0031T01, or in person at a citizens’ advice centre. For the 2026–2027 round, the deadline is 10 July. The grants are awarded through a selection process: applicants who meet the income thresholds are ranked according to their average mark.

How realistic are your chances?

The total budget is 50,000 EUR, which is sufficient for around 25 scholarships. It is restricted to Master’s students at two specific universities, who must also meet certain income thresholds, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is quite small. If you clearly meet these criteria and have very good grades, your chances are good, as selection is based on applicants’ average grades. It is advisable to apply well in advance of the application deadline.
