Traineeship at the Valencia Province Archive

You will receive 750 EUR per month for 14 months to undertake training as an archivist at the General and Photographic Archive of the Province of Valencia. You will work hands-on with the archive’s documents and photographic collections, gaining practical experience for a career in archiving, documentation or the cultural heritage sector. The Diputacion de Valencia, the provincial government of Valencia in Spain, funds the placement and offers four places per intake.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have completed a degree in Documentation, Library and Information Science, History or Art History. Only these subjects will be considered.
• Nationality: You may be a national of any EU country.
• Where you go: You work on site in Valencia, Spain.
• University: It doesn’t matter where you studied.

How to apply

Applications are to be submitted as part of a public call for applications. The application form and the conditions of participation can be found on the Diputacion de Valencia website and in the Official Gazette of the Province (Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Valencia). The deadline for applications is 10.04. Keep an eye on the Official Gazette so as not to miss the call for applications, and submit your application as soon as the application period opens.

How realistic are your chances?

This work placement is highly selective: there are only four places available, the list of eligible degrees is short, and candidates must be able to work on site in Valencia. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small. A suitable graduate in archiving, documentation or history has good prospects.
