University of La Laguna - Grants for Students Undergoing Economic Hardship

Benefit

You will receive up to 1,500 EUR as a grant towards your tuition fees for the credits for which you are enrolled for one academic year. The grant covers the credits for which you are enrolled, up to this maximum limit. The University of La Laguna pays this from its own funding scheme.

Eligibility

• University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the University of La Laguna.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Sudden hardship: Your family has encountered unexpected financial difficulties over the course of the year. Examples of this include: a serious illness affecting you or a family member, the death or insolvency of a main breadwinner, or the loss of a family member’s job.
• No other aid: You will not receive any further official public funding and are not eligible to apply for any such funding.
• Effect on your studies: These circumstances have had a negative impact on your academic performance.
• Credits passed: You have earned at least 25 credit points in the past academic year.
• Family income: Your family’s per capita income is below the specified thresholds.

How to apply

You apply for the grant online via the ULL service portal. You upload documents proving your sudden hardship and your family’s financial situation. The application period runs every year from the beginning of February to 31 March.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined. It is aimed exclusively at ULL Bachelor’s students whose financial situation has been adversely affected by a specific, unforeseen event, and only at those who have no access to other official sources of funding. As a result, the number of people eligible for the grant remains small. If you can provide clear evidence of the sudden event and your income, and submit your application by the deadline, your chances are good.
