Comillas Pontifical University - Scholarships for Students of Social Work and Education

What you get

Your monthly tuition fees amount to cut by up to 75% for the entire duration of your degree programme, which lasts either 4 or 5 years, depending on the course. The Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, for example, costs around 574.80 euros per month, so the discount covers a large part of this. The scholarship covers the monthly tuition fees, and the call for applications also states that it includes the enrolment fee (matrícula). The Pontifical University of Comillas in Madrid funds the scholarship in partnership with Banco Santander, and there are 40 places available. The scholarship is renewed annually, which happens automatically as long as you continue to meet the academic requirements.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at the Pontifical University of Comillas in Madrid.
• Field of study: You have been admitted to a degree programme in the field of Education or Social Work at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These include Primary School Education, Early Years Education, Social Work and their combined degree programmes, such as Criminology and Social Work.
• Study phase: This is your first enrolment on the degree programme.
• Residence: You live in Spain.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Financial need: You are unable to finance your studies yourself.
• Grades: You meet the academic requirements set out in the call.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Santander Open Academy platform. Applications for the year 2026–2027 are open until 13 November 2026 at 23:59 (GMT+2). The selection of applicants will take place on 18 November 2026. You may combine this scholarship with other public scholarships, such as those offered by the Ministry of Education.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed at a narrowly defined group. You must be studying a specific degree programme in the field of education or social work at a specific university, be resident in Spain, and demonstrate genuine financial need. As a result, the number of eligible applicants remains small. With 40 places available, your chances are good if you clearly meet these conditions and can provide evidence of your financial need. Please apply well in advance of the November deadline, as places are limited.
